Concave blade on one side and edged on the other side.
Removable wooden handle.
Blue-finished steel socket, marked "PAT. APR. 1672".
Later leather scabbard with brass fittings.
Leather belt loop with brass medallion monogrammed "US".

Firearm for Springfield M 1873 rifle and carbine.
