A salt box made of two riveted, bulbous wooden planks. It closes with a curved stopper with a square grip. A leather strap allowed it to be hung and also secured the stopper to its container.
The decoration is engraved on both sides, featuring the owner's initials "JP" on one side and the date "1935" on the other. The two handwritten inscriptions are set within a sawtooth frieze.

An object of Duodji craftsmanship, it was used by nomadic herders.
