Saddle leather and brass

An ice disc encircled with brass, covered in saddle leather topstitched with colored thread, suspended by a strap that passes through an exposed loop and descends back down the wall.

Jacques Adnet directed the Compagnie des Arts Français from 1928 to 1959 and, in the 1950s, developed a whole vocabulary of metal covered in saddle-stitched leather, crafted in collaboration with the Hermès workshops: pedestal tables, lamps, magazine racks, mirrors. He left publishing in 1959 to become director of the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs.

The attribution remains to be confirmed. The leather bears the patina of its age; the piece is sold without repair.
