Nicolas Barré is a merchant established in Paul Bert Serpette for many years, we went to met him and talk about his career.
What is your background ?
I have a cabinetmarketer diploma. I started the profession through my father who was crier in an auction house in province for 32 years. Since there was no school on Wednesday, I often went to help him unpack things and set up the room. I quickly wanted to do what had become my passion, a job. I arrived at fleas at 20 years old and started unpacking at the Jules Vallès market in my car. Things have gone from one thing to another. My current neighbor Mr. Patrick Morcos, who came to the province to the auction house where my father worked, cainvinced me to get a stand in Serpette. That's how I came to this market.
What is your speciality ?
I am specialized in classical furniture, Napoleon III, 18th and 19th centuries and Decoration. I do a lot of addresses, I buy in many flea markets in province. I sell the objects "in their juice".
What is your vision of the Paul Bert Serpette market?
I think it's one of the best markets in Saint Ouen. There are excellent merchants and a lot of importants decorators frequent this place.
Is there an object on your stand that you want to put forward?
I have a magnificent Louis XVI style desk, Napoleon III period, mahogany and bronze. It's a very high quality piece.
