<p class="MsoNormal">Armchair by Carlos Bugatti (born in Milan in 1856 died in Molsheim in1940) circa 1890.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">An armchair of oriental inspiration with incrustations of copper, pewter, mother of pearl and bone.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Seat and back in parchment, chair in its original condition.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Carlos Bugatti was a decorator, architect, furniture maker, silversmith and maker of musical instruments.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The son of Giovanni Bugatti, he started working in Milan around 1880 having studied at the Acad&eacute;mie des Beaux-Arts of Brera in 1875 and also France. He first received international notice in 1888 and won a prize in the Exposition des Arts D&eacute;coratifs in Turin in 1902 then again in Paris in 1904. He was the father of Rembrandt Bugatti, the animal sculptor and Ettore Bugatti, the car-maker.</p>
