Eukeni Callejo (1957-) Trained at the School of Fine Arts in Bilbao in 1983-1984 and then at the School of Ceramics, Algorta in Bilbao, he continued his apprenticeship with Angel Garraza. He set up his studio in 1985 in Pamplona. In 2006 he moved to France, first in the Paris region (Bagnolet), and since 2012 in Sadirac near Bordeaux. A fan of large-scale sculptures hung on the wall or placed on the floor, he also creates medium-sized pieces, always in research and experimentation. Here he presents pieces obtained by overfiring clays and rocks. He exhibited at Saint Sulpice at the ceramics market in 2022, 2023 and 2024, at C14-Paris in 2011, 2012 and 2019, at the CCCLB in La Borne in 2021 with C-14 Paris, as well as at the Vallauris Biennale in 2008. His pieces have also toured with a group exhibition in Taiwan in 2010. Among his latest solo exhibitions: 2023 Smoked. Smoky pieces , Haras de Tarbes, March 9 - April 23 2021-22 When the snow melts, where does the white go ?, L'Alchimiste, Bordeaux, December 9-February 1 2017 Form and Spirit , Pottery Museum, Sadirac, April 15 - June 3 2016 Fallen Angel , Galerie des Sélènes, Bordeaux, May 12-June 11. 2014 Primary , Galerie Xenon, Bordeaux, April 10 - May 10. His work has been awarded several prizes and his pieces can be seen in many museums (Museu de Disseny de Barcelona (Catalonia); Museo de la Ceramica de Valencia (Spain); Keramikmuseum Westerwald (Germany); Ceramic Museum, Alcora, Castellón; Pablo Gargallo Museum, Zaragoza; Regional Council of Alava (Vitoria-Basque Country); Ceramic Museum of Manises (Valencia); Ceramic Museum of Talavera de la Reina (Toledo). His latest pieces, presented here, are the result of a technique he has been exploring for several years. Earth and rocks are subjected to high temperatures, to produce an expansion and deformation of the material. He multiplies the research around this technique by associating it with work on forms and on color.
