Japan, Edo period (1603-1868)
Late 17th / early 18th century
Iron, lacquer, silk, horsehair
Kavuri-type kabuto, tehen carved with a stylized chrysanthemum, hachi with twelve suji, shikoro with five blades, maedate in the shape of a golden crescent moon, agemaki in yellow silk, wakidate in antler.
Mempo in red lacquered iron; gorget composed of four strips, horsehair moustache.
Do in two parts covered with red lacquer, oshitsuke no ita and wakilta covered with beige silk decorated with floral motifs, closing on the side.
Kote in blue-violet silk, decorated with houses, floral motifs, red lacquered iron fittings.
Teko covered with red lacquered iron and decorated with sakura: cherry blossom, main crest of the Yama-gata clan; Kata-bami main crest of the Fuji-tani, Iri-yé, Matsubayashi, Ré-zé clan and secondary crest of the Shima-zu of Sado-wara; Hito-yé ume: a plum blossom, main crest of the Shira-kawa; Hishi-kage ni kata-bami main crest of the Ogi-machi and finally a star in a circle.
Kusazuri in lacquered iron composed of five slats.
Haidate with chikara-gawa in brown and beige silk with geometric patterns, Ieji in purple silk with leafy and floral patterns, Iyo with four lamellae in lacquer-covered iron.
Suneate in red lacquer.
