This piece comes from the prestigious factory in Choisy-le-Roi, which under the Second Empire became an essential center for the distribution of majolica.

The shape and ornamentation of this vase are entirely inspired by known antique models. Its slip-decorated surface demonstrates a clear desire for renewal; the treatment of the body, with its deliberately textured effect, was a deliberate choice by the ceramist to integrate it into a garden or courtyard where mineral and vegetal elements predominate.
