large ceramic vase by Paul De Bruyne, circa 1970, height 75cm (!)

XXL brutalist ceramic vase, a stunning combination of glazed structures, cubist shapes, and brutalist influences, in a mix of brown, yellow, green, and blue. Made of heavy, thick clay, a unique piece from the 1970s and signed by Paul De Bruyne (Belgium 1936-2007).

A graduate of the Saint Luke Higher Institute in Ghent, he taught at the Royal Academy and the Saint Luke Institute in Oudenaarde, as well as at the Saint Barbara College in Ghent. De Bruyne created a body of work as a ceramist, where he also considered ceramics as an element of architecture and interior design. This led him to create ceramic works of art, utensils, ornaments, and sculptures, integrated into architecture.
