Very beautiful oil painting on canvas by Yasushi TANAKA, Japanese painter, art deco period 1920/1930
122 x 182cm
Yasushi Tanaka settled in Paris in 1920 and exhibited at the Société nationale des beaux-arts as well as at the Salon d'Automne, des Indépendants and the Tuileries in Paris. He lived on rue Notre-Dame-des-Champs in Paris from 1923 until his death.
His compositions always bear the trace of the first artistic emotion he experienced when he went to the United States in 1904, seeing the vast American landscapes, in such great contrast to the setting of his childhood.
Although he prefers the techniques of the French School to traditional Japanese practices, he nevertheless escapes any school influence and begins the direct study of nature, in very pure colored harmonies.
The Tokyo National Museum keeps one of his works: Backless.
