Pair of Anthropomorphic Sculptures by Begga d'Haese

Pair of anthropomorphic wooden sculptures of Afzelia by Begga D'Haese (1934 – 2023). Sister of Reinhoud D'Haese who was part of the Cobra group nursery in the 1950s and of Roel D'Haese who is considered the greatest Flemish surrealist sculptor, Begga was to make a name for herself. From 1969 she began working on monumental sculptures. All three are signed at the bottom. Carved in Afzelia wood and resting on a bluestone base. Circa 1980.
