With this exhibition, Nima Torbati brings together a collection of pieces centered around stone, where each artist engages in a direct relationship with the material.
The ceramics of Agathe Larpent form the starting point. A renowned artist, whose work is featured in numerous museums and galleries, she develops a style where nature encounters a pleasantly languid, light poetry, carried by the elements that surround her. Around fifteen pieces, directly from her studio in Thoard, are on display.
In a continuation of this work, Hsin Hua Lee unveils a new collection designed with Nima Torbati. Her project, Mono no Aware Ceramics , materially depicts a psychic labyrinth: each piece, poised between sketch and sensitive epilogue, explores forms blending arid earth and glazes. The Same but Different series brings together unique light fixtures, crafted in her workshop in the heart of the Saint-Ouen Flea Market.
The exhibition is also structured around a major work by Gert Olof Marcus. A German-Swedish sculptor and painter, he develops a body of work guided by geometry, utilizing a multitude of materials: metal, stone, concrete, and ceramics. The piece on display, free-form in shape, combines concrete and Carrara marble mosaic.
Élisabeth Lemaigre-Voreaux, painter, poet, and visual artist, extends this reflection. A collaborator with Hermès since 1976, she designs window displays composed of rugged and meticulous works. Among the pieces on display are a four-panel screen and a freestanding panel blending minerals with a rugged grace.
Finally, the exhibition includes a work by Claude Rahir, a Belgian sculptor and painter whose practice is part of a significant body of frescoes and mosaics produced worldwide. His compositions, veritable odes to movement made from static materials, are represented here by a decorative panel in slate and amethyst.
