This drawing was created upon his appointment as the official painter of the Paris School of Medicine in 1794. He held this position until his death and notably painted portraits of four famous physicians (Corvisart, Chaptal, Fourcroy, etc.). The drawing presented here is a design for their official ceremonial attire. We do not know the identity of the sitter, but it could be a renowned physician of his time.
